Scanalytics is now a part of Becton, Dickinson & Co., BD Biosciences Bioimaging, which is a public company (NYSE symbol, BDX). BD Biosciences, which develops and markets innovative research and clinical tools for the life sciences market, acquired the assets of Scanalytics, Inc. effective July 1, 2005. In 1997, the Scanalytics Division of CSP, Inc. was merged with the privately held Signal Analystics Corp., to create Scanalytics, Inc. Scanalytics now has over 6,000 users of its software, including research scientists in the most prestigious life science research institutions all over the world.
BD Biosciences Bioimaging software products are based on two software platforms: IPLab and Gene Profiler.
IPLab is a general purpose image analysis software package. As a Windows platform application, IPLab has an architecture which makes it easily extensible by BD Biosciences, third party vendors and customers.
Gene Profiler is the backbone of BD Biosciences Bioimaging software products oriented towards genotyping and gel analysis. It is widely recognized as the easiest to use software of its kind in the industry. Gene Profiler consists of two parts: a gel analysis 'front end' which does the image analysis, and a database manager for archiving data and performing cluster analysis and database searches.
